PAST EVENTS

Collective Futures Portal: Brooklyn Museum

In collaboration with the Brooklyn Museum, TherapArt led a community activation as part of the Collective Futures Portal in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Rooted in meditation, movement, and reflective practice, the gathering invited participants to imagine futures grounded in care, healing, and collective possibility.

Centered around Black futurism, the experience transformed public space into a living portal for storytelling, prayer, and communal dreaming, where reflections, visions, and hopes for the future could be shared and held together.

Move With Meaning: Times Square Arts

Presented as part of Shantell Martin’s The Path: A Meditation of Lines, Move With Meaning brought daily guided meditations into the center of Times Square. For the duration of Martin’s public artwork — a 160-foot painted pathway designed for walking and reflection — Ash Rucker (Therapart) held space each day for stillness and breath amid the city’s constant motion.

Set against Martin’s winding lines and the bright pulse of Times Square’s screens, these meditations invited participants and passersby to slow down, reconnect with their bodies, and experience the plaza as a site of collective grounding. What is usually one of the busiest crossroads in the world became, for a moment each day, a sanctuary of presence and reflection.

Move with Impact: California Lawyers for the Arts

A four-week Creative Care Container rooted in the Therapart approach, designed for individuals supported by California Lawyers for the Arts who are navigating complex, layered lives. Through movement, meditation, breathwork, and creative exploration, participants are invited to pause, reconnect with their bodies, and use creativity as a tool for healing, reflection, and self-expression. No prior creative experience is required, only a willingness to arrive as you are. This series creates space to honor lived experience, support nervous system regulation, and return to self with care, creativity, and love.
